What is spiritual direction?

Spiritual guidance is a confidential meeting with a trained guide who helps you listen to God's voice in your daily life. The guide, also known as a spiritual director, listens to you and helps you explore your spirituality. The goal is to help you recognize God's presence and grow by reflecting on your life's direction. A good spiritual director doesn't impose but can guide so you can make a decision. Their role is to help you discern the promptings of the Holy Spirit and to hear God's voice. 

Who is spiritual direction for?

• Exploration of Faith and Beliefs: It provides a space for individuals to explore their faith, beliefs, doubts, and questions. This can be especially valuable for those navigating religious or existential crises.

• Personal Growth: Spiritual direction can aid personal growth and self-awareness. It can help individuals better understand their values, purpose, and the meaning they find in life.

• Discernment: Some people seek spiritual direction to discern major life decisions, such as career choices, relationships, or vocational callings. The spiritual director can help individuals align their choices with their spiritual values.

What does spiritual direction look like?

The frequency and duration of spiritual direction sessions can vary. Some people meet with their spiritual director regularly (e.g., once a month), while others have occasional sessions as needed.

The relationship between the director and the person seeking guidance is built on trust and confidentiality. It's a safe space for open and honest discussion.

How much does a spiritual direction session cost?

I use a sliding scale of $40-$90 per session and allow the seeker to determine what they would like to pay for the sessions. I accept Venmo @beebabin or PayPal @beebabin.   As lay spiritual directors, we invest financially in our ministry in terms of ongoing training, professional dues, supervision, education, and materials. Therefore, we accept donations towards our ministry; however, the inability to pay will not be a hindrance to receiving spiritual direction.  It's important to me to make spiritual direction accessible to everyone, so if that cost range is prohibitive, feel free to pay what is comfortable for you.  All are welcome.

The first session is complementary. In this session, we can get to know each other and talk about what brings you to spiritual direction. You can learn more about what happens in a session and ask me any questions. In this initial session, we can also decide together if spiritual direction with me is a good fit for you. If I am not a good fit for you, I’d be happy to connect you with other spiritual directors.
